Care & Maintenance

To clean, use Pledge.  Yes, you read that right!  Good, ole’ lemon Pledge wax cleaner (car wax works fine too).  Do not use ammonia products (such as Windex) they will react with the patina.  Don’t worry, using wax is fine on the solder AND the glass.  Do not be heavy handed, you still can rub off the patina.  If, on the rare occurrence, your piece needs a deep cleaning, wash gently with soap and water. Dry with a cotton cloth and “Pledge” for a shine. Occasionally, over time, you will see a white substance appear on the lead or solder.  It is just oxidation or left over un-buffed wax.  Both can be buffed out with gentle elbow grease and/or more wax.

If your glass has decorative wire incorporated into the piece, you can gently move it back into a pleasing position if  shifting occurred during transit.

It is never recommended to hang stained glass with suction cups.  When there are drastic changes in temperature, suction cups often pop off windows, causing your pieces to fall and potentially break.  It is best to use a hook that is permanently installed.
