Terms and Payments

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

  • Personal/Business Bank Check ($40 NSF fees charged if check bounces)

  • Money Order or Cashier’s Checks (no fees)

  • PayPal (3% + $0.30 convenience fee)

  • Cash (by hand only & receipt MUST be immediately exchanged, no cash through mail allowed). 

Estimating The Price Of Your Piece

How do we come up with pricing guidelines for each piece? 

Each piece is charged in the following format:

1. Cost of piece*

2. Handling (cost of box and packaging materials (if purchased)).

3. Shipping (cost of postage) USPS First Class is standard, other options available upon request. 


*Cost of Piece Estimate

$5.00 to create/draw pattern/design (under 8.5” x 14”).  $10.00 for larger patterns.  If I already have the pattern, it is $1.00 for (3) copies (under 11’ x 17”), or the price I am charged for (3) copies at a copy shop for oversize patterns (above 11” x 17”). 

Cost of glass:  No upcharge, just cost of the glass used (I estimate what I need before the job is started).  If client changes colors after cut (approval), they must pay for both sets of glass cut, even though the original is not used.   Glass does not have a consistent price across the board.  Colors, type and availability all play a part in the price we pay. On average, depending on the glass type, it runs $8-$35 a square foot.    

Other Supplies: This cost includes solder, lead, zinc and copper foil, chemicals, grinder head wear, tool maintenance and finishing compounds/products. 

Labor: Hours spent & difficulty of pattern

Changes made after original approval, may incur additional costs depending where in the process we are at the time of the change order.

TERMS:

  1. Quoted Piece price (portion # 1) is due before project is started to cover part of the material costs.  Shipping/handling, change order costs and applicable payment fees are due before shipment (portion # 2) .

  2. If cost of materials exceeds estimate by $8.00 the additional materials will be discussed as soon as the need is apparent and included in the 2nd installment price (as change order). 

  3. Multiple pieces, if ordered together, will ship together to save on shipping/handling charges, unless otherwise requested.  

  4. PayPal payments incur an additional 3% + $.30 convenience fee to cover PayPal charges to Rockfish Studios.  Subject to change without notice, any time PayPal rates change.

  5. Scheduling- We provide a schedule of estimate start times and “real” start times for commission work, via email, or IM (depending on how we communicate together).  Unless given a guaranteed shipment date (such as a guarantee to receive by Christmas), we usually don’t know the completion date, until, well, it is finished.  You can’t rush art!
